On March 14, 2025, in Hall 400 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Sofia, the third national workshop on Bioeconomy was held, organized within the framework of the project CEE2ACT under the Horizon Europe program of the European Union. The participants in the workshop were the stakeholders in the development of the bioeconomy, united in a working group/hub by orders of the Minister of Agriculture and Food. The workshop was opened by the project coordinator from Executive forest agency - PhD Eng. Lyubcho Trichkov, and with greetings from Eng. Stoyan Toshev - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Mr. Asen Markov - Executive Director of the Executive Forest Agency, and Eng. Valentin Chambov - Director of the Southwestern State Enterprise, Blagoevgrad. Eng. Stoyan Toshev emphasized that the developed draft Roadmap for the Development of the Bioeconomy in Bulgaria is a good basis for the preparation of a future National Strategy for bioeconomy. After the presentation of the progress of the project, the workshop focusing on the draft Roadmap for the Development of the Bioeconomy in Bulgaria. Particular attention was paid to the Vision, strategic goals, priority areas, as well as the activities of the roadmap that should be undertaken. In addition, the results of the SWOT analysis of the Roadmap were also reviewed, which provided an important basis for identifying strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the future development of the roadmap. During the discussions, the participants in the working group exchanged ideas and proposals regarding the optimization of the roadmap and the action process. Examples of best practices in the field of bioeconomy were also considered. The main goal of these discussions was to formulate specific steps that would help achieve sustainable development of the bioeconomy in the country. An important moment in the program was the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of bioeconomy. The document was signed by a number of representatives of institutions, members of the working group. For other organizations, the signing will be carried out at a later stage. The workshop ended with optimism for future cooperation in the development of the bioeconomy. The organizers expressed their gratitude and emphasized the importance of joint work to achieve the strategic goals and priorities in the field of bioeconomy in Bulgaria. The CEE2ACT project, funded under the Horizon Europe program, will continue to support the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the development of strategies and action plans that will contribute to the sustainable and innovative development of the bioeconomy in the region.
